D-R-U-N-K is the brand new solo outing from Oly Grasset who you may know as one half of trashing Techno Duo MOTOR, the lovely folks who brought such classic hits to hardcore underground fans such as ‘King of the USA’ and the face melting, Synth Rising fuck you to your grey matter ‘Death Rave’.
As much as I would like to floss about my obsession with MOTOR, they have decided to call it a day with their last album ‘Man Made Machine’ ending now a decade of MOTOR and bridging off their separate ways with Bryan doing Black Asteroid.
This has not deterred Mr. No one iota as D-R-U-N-K was his way of getting a breath of fresh air and doing things that seemed to have limited him during his time in MOTOR.
Oly’s production as always is still on point baring in mind that he has been making music since 1993. As D-R-U-N-K, his remix work is brilliant and to a ‘T’ so yeah its not a sad day if you’re still yearning for the days of MOTOR, there is still that aspect floating around but with a brand new sheen!
Best way I can describe the D-R-U-N-K sound is techno that throws you face first in the mud and holds you up at gunpoint in a ghetto. As the tagline on D-R-U-N-K’s website would say ‘Porn techno is here: It has to be French!’
In our exclusive NZ interview we got to talk Oly about getting DRUNK on D-R-U-N-K and find out what really happened to MOTOR and how you can follow an excellent example of the Techno genre, something I wish NZ could catch on it.
Oh….I just realized that in our relentless search for NZ music talent (and the fact that its fricken NZ Music Month) we had someone right under our noises, the ever beautiful Scarlett Lashes. Yes I just paid her a complement, deal with it!
With her Busy schedule as it is, its refreshing that she can shoe-in a track or 2 with a video to boot.
Her electro cabaret style of singing coupled with 80s synth sounds and drum machines is a sure-fire winner for those that seek a little risque in their music listening. There is also a lot of clever meter changes as well so I hope you can keep up.
Scarlett’s new video is called “Daddy’s Gotta A Shotgun”and I really hope you can throw your support by liking it!
“Its finally good to hear from online friends that you’ve supported throughout the years, especially these guys. This remix says to us ‘Welcome back Galactik Knights!’. Supported by Taku Takahashi (M-Flo) and Takeru John Otoguro on Block FM/TCY Radio” -NERDYS TAKE

“Based in San Francisco’s notoriously seedy Tenderloin district we are called phages. After a year in the studio of introspection and, at times, insanity, we have emerged with a three song E.P and an ICY video for your aural, visual pleasure. Expressions of love and loss, a reaffirmation that Space truly is the place and metaphors left behind. Beginning, resonating and ending with visceral low tones, phages.
Sharkoffs is back with another new track that has actually built quite a bit of buzz already. After taking his new song “Shark Attack” to Reddit for some feedback late last year, the song was eventually reposted by another member of the social bookmarking website and built up 20,000 plays in just a few months thanks to the active EDM community that posts there!
I did a fun track fusing electro and bassline music with my dear friend ‘Some DJ’ and super bad ass Tuhin Chisti label boss from Pressed Records came in had had a play on word with our title ‘Kut Me Sum’.
Celebrating Torture Garden’s 23rd Birthday Ball at epic The Coronet Theatre, I thought it would be nice to fuse some of Trent Reznor’s lyrics from ‘The Perfect Drug’ to our ‘Kut Me Sum’ track. Personalised with a quick little piano and synth intro by me.
It’s been receiving well as a gusty intro so far! so hope you enjoy hearing it or find a place in your set for it! big ups -janette- xxx
