Elle P. & Iftah are both active musicians who met at a crucial time in their careers, leading them to form a band to collage a wild range of transcending soundscapes with profound poetry and unique singing lines. Many years of experience in music, production, art and performance (Iftah is one-half the Berlin based cult live act Skinnerbox and Elle P.
exhibits visual artwork and performances throughout Europe) enabled them to create an exciting new mixture of music that exceeds the audible and reaches the visual aspect of performance. The duo have previously released an EP called Sick Liar/Pink Painter on Souvenir Records which was remixed by dOP and Ruede Hagelstein. The latter remix was chosen by Sven Väth to open his Sounds of the Eleventh Season compilation.
Mrs. Oscillator & her Pocket Calculator
It’s 2011 and the days are days of boredom, nuclear horror and Arab Spring, and the outrageously charming duo Elle P. & Iftah have found their way to the studio once again, planning nothing else than pure simplification of element and method, in other words, to have fun with a light-hearted plan to record some songs using nothing more than their newly purchased 1989- 8-track cassette recorder, 3 synths, 2 drum machines, spontaneous first-take-bullets and some explosive poetry shots. Raw plan, raw power – things get pretty and serious by just pushing ‘record, play & sing’.
12 days later they have captured 12 songs and call it an album. Through limitations to old school means they have discovered new musical discipline and freedom strong enough to leave behind massive layers of sounds and countless hours of editing. The intentional choice of recording and releasing Mrs. Oscillator & her Pocket Calculator on cassette tape results from LP&I’s fascination for dead mediums. Unlike digital alternatives, the cassette looks forward to a specific change of character as it degrades with use and time. Surprisingly enough (well, you would expect such an unexpected duo to surprise you, wouldn’t you?) the outcome does not sound retro. It is contemporary!

“This is a revelation!” – IGLOO MAGAZINE
“The beautifully named record has been produced with just an eight-track cassette recorder, synths and a couple of drum machines, without question earning the title “Old School” … rounded out by Elle P.’s dreamy and poetic lyrics.” – TRNDMUSIK
“…pure Pop in one of its better moments. Unique, original, potentially hard to digest and definitely difficult to categorize….” – IBIZA VOICE
“…an enjoyable and wild duo who please with their humor and daring vocal edits… a rare variety….” – GROOVE MAGAZINE
“…a really strange band with twisted vocals, deep breaks, a kind of funk attitude and flowery harmonies… also at home in the club…. a delicate touch of cabaret… infatuating….” – DE-BUG

Elsewhere Music is an audio visual project based out of Berlin – an independent art series and platform for one of a kind structures and music! Launched in 2010 the label is the home of Elle P & Iftah and Esquare, as well as remixers and collaborators like Cursor Miner, Skinnerbox, Dapayk, Sei A, FXYZ and photographer Kerstin Groh among others.
“Elsewhere is a label you may not be that familiar with, yet, as the crew are currently working on a third release following two mighty fine outings from Esquare. Dark but funky, like a bastard child of techno and Andy Weatherall’s school of electro house, we were blown away, not least thanks to vocalist Elle P- who, incidentally, designs all the associated imagery … Stand out electronic music and some of the best sleeve art in the known universe.” – PLAIN & SIMPLE (UK)
