The Amends are a Boulder/Denver, Colorado-based indie rock band, formed in January of 2010. We’ve been playing some of the best venues in the Denver area since December ‘ 10, including multiple shows at Meadowlark, Lion’s Lair, Cervantes, Walnut Room, Larimer Lounge, Herman’s Hideaway, Catacombs, and many others. Members are Drew Weikart (vocals, lead guitar), Tyler Taylor (keys, vocals, rhythm guitar), Chris Childress (bass), and Shay Byington (drums).
We’re first and foremost a rock and roll band. Our influences are varied– indie, alternative, blues– but our focus is writing and playing good old-fashioned melodic, foot-stomping, rock n roll. Our songs are driven by guitars and piano and anchored by an incredible rhythm section. Main songwriters Tyler and Drew bring together different backgrounds and influences to form something exciting and new, but anchored in the best traditions of rock.
What we’ve tried to do with our first album is to create a kind of love letter to rock n roll—an attempt to create something new from the music that’s inspired us. Song by song, you’ll hear some blues, some punk, some indie anthems, some screaming guitar solos, some jangly pianos, and some old fashioned rock n roll. And it’s our hope that by the end you’ll also hear a unifying sound beneath the melodies and varying styles.
