Meet alloapm.
alloapm is the creative outlet of Malc Yacob and Amelie Mirror Adnis hailing from Tokyo, Japan.
Both producers in their own right, the two of them have independently released music in the past. Some might remember the name Laserboy, Yakob’s former moniker, who released a row of 12′ of singles and remixes on the eclectic Serotonin Imprint (Fisherspooner, BPMF, John Selway) before forming alloapm.
Having played in various clubs in Tokyo, alloapm have quickly proven themselves as a solid duo both live and in the studio, delivering a unique blend of synthified dance music and futuristic interpretations of melody. Their style is a uniquely retro-infused synth collage which often features lines of hard vocoded top-lines, locked-in bass grooves and beautiful synth harmonies that make for a fresh take on disco music.
‘Gorilla Slighly’ is their first single on Sunlinxx Records and sets a great example of their strangely catchy and colorful productions. It is a sweetly nostalgic slow disco number that equally draws up a picture of humid summer days in the busy streets of Shibuya and remote daydreams of beaches and crystal clear skies.
The EP is accompanied by remixes from Keenhouse, Rhythm Droid and Abelard.
Keenhouse delivers a remake of the original that settles somewhere between classic urban disco and a heavily jazzified outlook. A re-hamonisation of the original with a pitched down vocal hook, his interpretation is a nostalgic fusion of disco and playful synth lines.
Rhythm Droid rolls out his signature electronic funk patterns while keeping almost nothing intact. And that in a way that throbs of creativity and hard grooving micro rhythms. His is a distant bass-heavy ode to memories of blissed-out summer days in the futuristic capital.
Melbourne’s Abelard delivers a slightly more dancefloor oriented interpretation then the original, complete with a stomping 80s synthetic disco feel, wide open synths and a focus on the original vocals. The perfect remix to play out and take you through the night.
