In my day we had Tupac or Biggie as our heroes of hip hop, but the question is who are the heroes of this generation and will they serve up the same cardboard, fake shit like many have before them since the inception of the millennium? Well I can tell you that Shawn Chrystopher is one of these new heroes of the new school especially with this new album he released ‘You, And Only You.’


Never have I had this much fun listening to an album that is not only great, but free….yeah ‘You, And Only You’ is a free download from Shawn Chrystopher’s website. The only downfall in that is it’s at 192 Kbps, so this one is strictly for the Ipods folks. I guess it’s to encourage people to order the CD version which is a good strategy.

See normally when we receive demos or full albums that fall down our download standards of 320 Kbps its immediately trashed because we want the full body sound, but with this it gives you an earshot right away from track one.

The production is insanely good for a hip hop album of this caliber with some good instrumentation and excellent crate digging samples, sure I’m talking out of my ass, but if you experience this album you’ll dismiss other hip hop acts out there on the majors.

Oh snap what about the tracks you say, what are the standout staples from ‘You, And Only You?’ Well I do love ‘Be Famous’ which is Shawn’s way of tell us about the ill wills of fame while ‘Catch Me If You Can’ is a tennis served diss to his haters, how endearing of him.

Suffice to say I might have my faith restored into loving this generation’s Hip Hop movers like Shawn Chrystopher and ‘You, And Only You’ is a must have, hell part some duckets his way for the CD cuz!
